COLLABORATIVE PROJECT
ego drift
ego drift was a collaborative project by Ian Swanson and Wendy Ross. Described at the time as an “esoteric art and information store,” it combined sculpture, drawing, printed matter, informal exchange, and online publishing.
The project operated through several temporary forms rather than a fixed venue: a weekend booth at Gibraltar Trade Center, a house-based exhibition at WAKE in Detroit, an online base of operations and archive, and collaborative works shown elsewhere. Swanson and Ross ended the project in 2015; Raft, completed in 2016, is its final work.
TEMPORARY RETAIL
Gibraltar Trade Center
The weekend booth placed ego drift’s esoteric objects and printed material inside the social and commercial circulation of the Mt. Clemens market.

CULMINATING PRESENTATION
ego drift at WAKE
The WAKE installation occupied a Detroit house with collaborative objects, drawings, banners, display furniture, diagrams, and the project’s visual identity. Material from the presentation was ultimately offered free to visitors.
