Associated LA/DW~PS project
Ian Swanson + Wendy Ross

feels like feels brings together paintings and sculptures in which portraiture, abstraction, and ordinary systems of exchange become difficult to separate. The Aging paintings construct likeness through accumulated surfaces, treating identity as something made over time rather than captured in a single image.
A suite of works on black felt follows the passage from sunset to sunrise, turning a daily transition into a shifting measure of perception. Sculptures such as Online Taxes, Inc. redirect functional objects through commercial identity, making the language of service and transaction feel bodily, intimate, and strange.
The exhibition also inaugurated ASHES/ASHES’s outdoor LA/DW~PS program with Raft, a collaborative work by Ian Swanson and Wendy Ross. Two identical pairs of rebranded DIY rain barrels form an associated project in which utility, survival, and collective authorship converge.
